Walnut Creek – Steelhead Fishing – Low and Clear
I did make it out on Friday morning to try and catch some steelhead. I only stayed about an hour because the fishing conditions were not my ideal conditions and I didn’t want to waste my time fighting the conditions.
I did see a couple people that had a steelhead on but I couldn’t tell if they were clean catches or snags. The water was low and clear throughout the creek. I only saw about 10 guys fishing the stop sign hole, a few guys above that in the next waterfall and maybe 10 people fishing the manchester hole. The two waterfalls above the manchester hole were holding some fish and I did see two fish catch from those holes but there isn’t alot of fish in each hole. We definitely need more rain for to bring the creeks up and keep them up so more fish can come in.
If you are dying to get a chance to fish for steelhead and you can’t wait any longer than you can try your luck at low and clear. I personally don’t like to struggle to get them to bite when the conditions aren’t ideal so I quickly exited and saved the rest of my day.
We need rain…until next time
