Steelhead Fishing Report from Elk Creek, Trout Run and Walnut Creek
Here’s a steelhead fishing report for today as I was able to take a little time to check out the creeks.
I went to elk creek at the access area and I saw about 10-12 people fishing there. I saw a couple of fish caught while I was there but not much action yet. I walked the path all the way to the mouth and there were 2 guys fishing there. Nothing happening there either and I didn’t even see any fish coming in the mouth. The creek was murky so you couldn’t see the bottom very well.
I then went to trout run and there was about 17 people fishing there from shore. There are steelhead moving into the creek there but not alot yet. I did see one person have a fish on while I was there but they lost it.
I then went to walnut creek and saw the same thing. There are a few pods of fish and people fishing from the wall. There were 3 people fishing at the waterfall hole above the stop sign hole, no one at the stop sign hole and 8 people at the waterfall below the stop sign hole. People were fishing the manchester hole and I did see some people above that up at the chutes but I did not see anyone catch anything.
There are about 10-15 fish in each of the waterfall holes and very few if any from the waterfalls to the corner of the wall. The one pod of fish was hanging out at the end of the wall. There were other fish scattered throughout the wall. It did rain most of the day here but we are going to need alot more rain and cold nights to bring in more fish. If you can’t wait and need to start fishing for steelhead then you can make the trip but realize that the numbers are just not there yet.
I will post a few short videos I took as soon as I get them on my computer.
Fish On Everyone!!
